The Dangers Of Prescription Drugs
67
Prescription drug use has been on the rise for the last one hundred years, but the abuse of prescription narcotics really has gotten out of control in the last 20yrs when it comes to pain pills. 90% of todays addicts have the same story, they either had an injury that cause them to start taking low dose pain pills like Vicodin, Lortab, or Percocet . Normal people just use them for a few days and move on, but some like how they make them feel and do not realize that taking them for two weeks everyday will make your body chemically dependent. Thats when you start taking them from once a day to two, then three and then the same double dose until they no longer make you feel the same as they used too. Thats when you will start to look for oxycontin , Roxy's, Oxys which are dangerous, maybe even methadone which is the worst thing you could become dependent on.
The first time I witnessed death from prescription drug abuse was when I was 19 and my girlfriends mother died of an overdose, she would go weeks without them, but when she had them it was always over the top and she would take so much till she passed out, and it caught up with her. She left behind her 18 yr old daughter 15 yr old son and husband. That was in 1999 and since I can not count how many friends I've lost to prescription drugs, most recent lost a friend of 18 yrs in December 2010 2 days before his 27th birthday. If your a kid reading this please know it only takes one pill, or a combination of two to kill you, and I know you think your smart and know better but later in life if you make it you'll see I am right.
I am 100% for prescription drugs for people who need them and do not abuse them, yes your body will still become dependent on them, but you have to look at your options. Many people who abuse them end up shooting pills and heroin cause your body will always need more to get them same feeling. I know that pills are the most common drug with teens which is scary, when I was a teen we never even thought about pain pills, we did acid, and weed which was just as wrong. Watch the video here on this article and remember you do not want to get mixed up in this stuff 50 percent of my friend who I know that were addicted have died and all have overdosed.

It is such a tragedy that so many people have lost their lives to abusive use of prescription drugs, that when they are used properly they can save and even prolong our lives. Abusive use of prescription drugs is like putting a gun in the hands of the wrong person. In the right hands guns can save someone's life but in the wrong hands it can take someone's life.
